Tom is an Associate Solicitor, who joined the Employment Team in August 2017.  After obtaining a Law Degree at the University of Southampton and passing his Legal Practice Course at Manchester College of Law, Tom immediately returned home to Liverpool to practice Employment Law as a Trainee Solicitor and then, upon qualification, moved straight into an Employment Solicitor seat.

Tom has continuously practiced employee- and employer-focused Employment Law, including conduct of numerous Employment Tribunal actions, since.  This includes day-to-day employment and HR advice to employers as well as drafting and reviewing bespoke contracts, handbooks, documents and letters for clients – a skill aided by his years as an Editorial Assistant for one of the world’s largest scientific journals.

Tom deals with all areas of Employment Law but has extensive experience in disability discrimination and unfair dismissal claims on both sides.  His varied experience of acting on both sides of tribunal claims allows him to offer employers detailed and accurate guidance as to likely next steps and effectively analyse disputes.

When asked about his approach to work, Tom will tell you that he always aims to be three things: approachable, practical and realistic.  His aim has always been to speak openly about a situation in order to identify the client’s aims and then discuss the most effective ways of achieving this. Rather than being a Solicitor who simply states “you can’t do that”, Tom acts to set out the various options available and sums up the pros and cons of each situation. He prides himself on also giving a well-reasoned opinion as to his recommended route, rather than sitting on the fence, but will acknowledge and support situations in which an alternative route is decided on by the client.

Outside of law, Tom is known for his regular Marine Football Club articles in the Good News Liverpool newspaper, his passion for blogging and his love of all things Snoopy (which is actively fuelled by family and friends).  Aside from playing various sports and running in his spare time, he is often found watching Formula One or reading through an eccentrically varied book collection on his Kindle.”
